Led by Eduvision Director Uzma Qamar at Islamia Girls Inter College, the initiative introduced students to self-awareness, communication skills and affordable learning opportunities.

Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh: Awaz-e-Khwateen organised NIKHAAR, its Women’s Personality Development and Skill Enhancement Initiative, at Islamia Girls Inter College, Bareilly, on Wednesday, bringing together more than 200 students from Classes IX to XII for a session on confidence-building, self-awareness and personal growth.

Led by Ms. Uzma Qamar, Director of Eduvision, the programme encouraged students to look beyond academic achievement and recognise the importance of communication, self-expression and continuous learning in shaping their futures. Ms. Chaman Jahan, Principal of Islamia Girls Inter College, also graced the occasion.

NIKHAAR stands for Nurture, Inspire, Know, Hone, Aspire, Achieve and Rise. The initiative seeks to help girls recognise their potential, strengthen essential life skills and develop the confidence to navigate academic, personal and professional challenges.

Encouraging Confidence and Self-Discovery

The session focused on understanding individual strengths, identifying areas for improvement and developing the confidence to express oneself. Students were encouraged to remain open to new perspectives, question limiting beliefs and view personal development as an ongoing process.

Addressing the students, Uzma Qamar highlighted the relevance of personality development in an evolving social and professional environment. The discussion emphasised that education extends beyond textbooks and examinations, with interpersonal skills, adaptability and effective communication playing an important role in young people’s development.

By engaging students at the secondary and senior secondary levels, NIKHAAR sought to introduce these skills at a formative stage, when young people begin shaping their identities, aspirations and understanding of future opportunities.

Connecting Awareness with Accessible Learning

A key component of the programme was the introduction of learning opportunities offered by Eduvision. Students were informed about courses available at a nominal fee of ₹100, presenting an accessible avenue for those interested in pursuing further skill development.

The initiative received an encouraging response, with approximately half of the more than 200 participating students sharing their contact details to seek enrolment and further information about the courses.

The response reflected students’ interest in exploring opportunities beyond the classroom and highlighted the value of connecting awareness sessions with practical pathways to continued learning. By introducing affordable options, the programme sought to demonstrate that personal and professional development need not always require substantial financial investment.

Unlearning as a Step Towards Growth

Speaking about the vision behind NIKHAAR, Shariqa Malik, Convenor, Awaz-e-Khwateen, emphasised the importance of unlearning, questioning familiar beliefs and remaining receptive to new experiences.

She highlighted the need to move beyond inhibitions and make room for new ideas and learning as part of personal growth.

Through NIKHAAR, Awaz-e-Khwateen aims to create spaces where girls and women can explore their abilities, strengthen their confidence and express themselves without hesitation. The initiative reflects the organisation’s broader commitment to advancing women’s empowerment through education, awareness and practical skill development.

Building Opportunities Beyond the Classroom

The programme at Islamia Girls Inter College forms part of Awaz-e-Khwateen’s efforts to engage with educational institutions and create opportunities for girls to develop essential life skills and access learning resources.

The participation of more than 200 students, alongside the interest shown in Eduvision’s courses, underscored the importance of introducing young women to opportunities for continued learning at an early age.

Awaz-e-Khwateen aims to continue working with educational institutions and relevant partners to expand such engagements, helping girls build confidence, strengthen communication skills and approach their aspirations with greater independence.

With NIKHAAR, we seek to reinforce a simple but significant message: empowering girls involves not only recognising their potential but also creating opportunities for them to develop their abilities and turn their aspirations into action.
